Hey everyone,

After quite a few months with my 240, I have decided it's time to move on. Replacing the engine in the car due to my ignorance in looking at the car, and not realizing that a new front cover and a strange engine sound at speeds was indicative of the infamous SOHC timing chain tensioner/guide failure, thus causing a coolant leak into the block was my first mistake, and anymore, I feel like any more money I sink into that car will be additional mistakes, for it's money I'll never see again.

But anyhow, my 240 is a 1990, with 75,500 miles on the odometer, with a rebuilt engine with a 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty installed at 70,151 miles (costing me $3475.02, in addition to the $2000 I spent on the car itself). I just put new Yokohama AVS ES100 tires on in early July (at 74,722 miles), so those are done as well. I'm just looking for what a rough value of the car would be . . . I know the Blue Book value is around $2500 or so, but with the new engine and tires, would $3000-3500 be out of the question? I know full well I'll never get my money back, but it would be nice to get a small portion back. The car's current problems include what I believe to be a defective EGR solenoid valve, and a small water leak in the hatch. In addition, the parking brake seems to be sticking a bit, but I'm working on getting that fixed . . . if anyone could comment on what would be an appropriate asking price for the car, I'd appreciate it, and keep in mind, I can always negotiate a lower price, but never a higher one . . . I just don't want to set an extravagent price that will scare off potential buyers from the start.

P.S: I'm looking at a 1994 Toyota MR2 to replace the 240 . . . the MR2 was my first car love, ever. :-)

I dont think 3000 is out of the question but kinda steep. With a basically new motor.....but why do you have EGR solenoid problems on a almost brand new motor. It depend son the rest of your car too. How is the exterior/interior. Becasue someone can get a decent 240 witha blown motor for under 1000 and take the other 2000 and put it towards a swap or gettign a full rebuild, so there are other factors besides just having anew engine and tires...

The motor is new, meaning the head and block . . . the intake, exhaust, etc are all what was already there, including the emissions controls systems (it was originally a California car, so it has a few emissions things that the rest don't). I just hadn't gotten around to fixing that yet.

The body is in phenominal shape for the year; *ABSOLUTELY* no rust, at all, including under the rear spoiler, which as you could understand is very unusual for a car that's been in New England for a few years. It does have the normal assortment of rock chips on the hood, and the front lip has seen it's share of speed bumps from a previous owner, but other than that, the gloss is amazing, with good color definition . . . take a look at http://extranet.sessys.com:8800/images/240sx_pics/ and let me know what you think yourself (yourselves). Inside is in good shape too, aside from the small tear in the driver's seat that is so common on S13's. Dash in great shape, looks brand new. The speakers aren't OEM: up front, I never looked to see what they were, they sounded that good, and in back, I put in Boston Accoustics 746 speakers to help add some bass until I added a subwoofer later on. I'm not sure if I'll include the subwoofer and amplifier (Boston sub, Alpine amp), but the Alpine head unit will probably stay with me. In addition, I have the FSM for the car, which will be gladly thrown in. I'd consider it a pretty good deal for $3,000, myself, but then again, I wouldn't be the one buying it. ;-)

My real motivation for selling it is that I just love MR2s, and have for the longest time, but I've had a hard time finding one, until now . . . :-)
