use the ones from 95-96 J30s. They have the same flanges for the halfshafts and easy install... GLCJ17DE wrote:Asking for my friend again...he is wondering if we pull the LSD out of a 93 J30, could we just use the halfshafts from his '91 240 diff and put them into the J30 diff?
92-94 j30 u can stil use it... but he needs to get the axles from that car... just a different halfshaft bolt pattern from the s13s and s14sCJ17DE wrote:well the problem there is we were going to get the diff out of a '93 J30 at Pull-a-Part. There's a second one there but our friend already got its diff.
... just get the axles from the 93 j30. its worth getting!CJ17DE wrote:oh okay man.thanks alot.what would be good ways to look for a diff from the 95-96 models since pull a part hasnt got one at the moment? Nicoclub classifieds, craigslist, bulletin board, and ebay?

mine didnt work... i used a s14 with abs diff on my s13 and my ds was grinding the dust shield of my transmission...OutToWinPAHC wrote:You can make it fit without swapping driveshafts, there is enough slack in it.
let me knoe about the j30 vlsd coz im planning to get 1 tom. i dont want to change my ds coz i bought mine for $400+ and i dont want to spend alot of money anymore... thanks!OutToWinPAHC wrote:yeah its kind of mixed, i hear no problems then I hear problems. So well see...
I have a 1 piece drive shaft in my car and I lost my LSD when it was dyno tuned. I had the stock open end packed with a Cusco 1.5way and a 3.69 ringgear from Z32TT.
I also have an ABS J30 VLSD getting ready to go in, I don't know that it will fit, but I will keep you posted. If it doesn't I am going to rebuild the one that's now open with another 1.5way. Most likely Kaaz because they sell rebuild kits. Worst case I'll just have to sell the J30 jobber because I am not having another custom driveshaft made.
if ur planning to have a 240 as ur first car... read this http://240atlanta.com/forums/s...25966CJ17DE wrote:yeah guys keep me updated please.i'm wanting to learn as much as possible because i'm hoping to get a 240 as a first car when i find a job that will help me support it.
how long is the j30 diff from the s13 diff non abs???OutToWinPAHC wrote:Well I have a LS6 with a th350 and a 1 piece DS, I tried the J30 ABS diff today and fail, not enough slack on my DS it wouldn't even come close. But on most S13s without abs, it will clear. Sometimes it doesn;t but from what I gathered it will clear.
Also my local drive shaft place could shorten a drive shaft for about 50 bucks.
yeah i've heard and i have a lot of fun riding with some of my 240 buds.240 is what i'd like but may not be possible until im done with school.i may have to go honda.....which would mean Civic EX and swap its for a DOHC VTEC or just get an Si or V6 accord.but i'd like a EVO or WRX STI cost is just way too high for me....unibody_s13 wrote:
