I have a 95 stock 240 SX. The car has recently developed a power loss problem. The problem happens at idle and occurs at all speeds, frequently occurs, but is not consistent. The engine almost feels as if it is being starved for fuel or one or more cylinders are not firing. The car shakes when this happens at idle but feels smoother when moving. I have had a bad MAF before on this car and I have replaced it. This is definitely a different feeling than when the MAF was bad. I have only gotten one engine code since the problem started occurring and that was a misfire on cylinder # 3. The check engine light does not come on either, like it did when the MAF was bad. The car is still very drivable, but it is a very annoying problem and I do not want it to get worse and then quit on me somewhere.Anybody got any suggestions? I think I will change the fuel filter just to assure myself that is not the problem. I changed it about 18 months ago, so I assume that is not the cause.

Wires good condition? They grounding out anywhere? If those are good could be an injector. How old is your fuel filter?

The car has around 135k on it. I have to admit I have not checked or changed the plugs, wires, cap, or rotor. The wires and cap look good, but looks can be deceiving I guess. When I purchased the car, it had approximately 100K on it, so whether the items mentioned had been changed before or not I cannot say. I guess I will change them and see what happens from there. I will repost after the change. Thanks to all who have answered.

The fuel filter is only a year or so old. I have run injector cleaner in the last couple of tank fulls of fuel, but no change. I will change plugs, wires, rotor and cap and see what happens.

Thanks.

Mike
