I was wonder if you guys could give me a little advice?I'm new so I used the"search" forum alot. But my car is having to many problems than just one thing.
So here goes.
Make – 1990 NissanModel - 240 SXEngine - KA24EMiles – 130,000(All stock)
Problems with the car:
1. While driving (whether on the highway or in town) the car will all of a sudden start loosing power. once you pull off the road the car will sit there and idle real ruff. Black smoke will come out of the tail pipe and there will be a strong smell of gas. If you try to rev up the engine the car will, only rev up to 2500 Rpm's and then starts stuttering and shaking real bad.
2. The car also seems to be eating allot of gas right before these symptoms occurs.
3. The car latley has been stalling after coming to a stop and won't start back up for at least 20 minutes. Here again is a stong smell of gas.
4. I read the ECU one time after the problem occurred and the code it was putting out a code #12 (Mass Air Flow) Nissan wants to charge me an arm and a leg for this part, but I found that Advance Auto Parts carries this part for $94.00. When I took it to the Nissan dealer they said that I had a floppy O-2 and an open circuit in the throttle sensor. And thats just the start, they wanted to just start replacing parts. When I asked them how did they recover the codes they said that the just pulled the ECU and read the blinking lights. They said they had no way to hookup into the ECU and produce me a pint out of the trouble codes.
5. I put a meter on the mass air flow and it was reading a little higher than its supposed to (With the engine off and with the engine running).
6. Another problem that I recently had was that I had to replace the head gasket because I had antifreeze in the oil.
7. The only parts that have been replaced recently have been:
a. Head gasket b. Engine temperature sensor
I don't have alot of money to throw into the car so any help would be nice.
