I am new to the forum and need some help. I have an 92 240 hatch that was running when I got it. we deleted the emisions from the head along with an few other mods underdrive pulleys, cold air intake, and painted under the hood. the car will start run for aprox 5 seconds then it starts to idle rough and shuts down. we also replaced the dash and swapped the doors for some better ones. the previous owner was very hard on the car and it had a few electrical issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a smoke test or "boost leak" test to see if you have any vacuum leaks. Also disconnect the mash and see if it will idle ok. Also check for codes.

The oil pressure switch can't shut the car down, it just runs the light on the dashboard.

Do you have any vacuum leaks? You said you removed emissions, what about the PCV lines on the bottom of the intake manifold?

Did an complete intake swap on the car checked for vac leaks and found none. new gaskets for intake and still same thing. did an check on the ecu and came up 34 knock sensor replaced with another good used one we had and still same thing if we hold the pedal to the floor it will try to run but its really rough and dies as soon as you let off. timing is good. acts like its loosing fuel pres. checked injector pulse with a diode and they are all hot. gonna try fuel pump swap. The original tank was damaged when I got the car and I had to replace it. put my good pump into a slightly hated tank(light Rust inside even though it was sealed when I got it) Are there any switches or relays in the dash that could have this effect? Any ideas are as usual appreciated. I will post what I come up with. Thanks

If it was your fuel pump, it doesn't make sense that the car runs with the throttle open. This definitely sounds like a vacuum leak.

Maybe u reversed ur fuel pressure and return lines. Ur pressure line should be going to fuel injectors first and return should be connected after fuel pressure regulator.
