The 240 performs rather bad in snowy conditions do the light weight rear end. It is possible to drive if you get some aggressive snow tires. But the road tires will have to be removed if you want to have any confidence at all. I grew up in North Boston and have been up to where you live in NH. You might want to consider parking it on bad days. Unless you enjoy snow drifting...

You can email me directly at [email protected] if you want info about forced induction and your 240. There are a ton of options ranging in price from $2000 on up. Welcome to NICO and congrats on the 240.

ha, Vexajin, I'd say get some treads with cleats in em (little metal thingys that grab ice ;) ) get a bag or two of concrete mix and throw it in the rear, one at each side closest to wheel well.

As for me, because i am psycho, I'm actually prolly stripping my car down, losing some weight, and keepin to my semi winter tires :) *also dont have LSD* :(

I've never had any real problems in the snow...rain on the other hand;)But yeah just drive slowly and cautiously and make sure you have tires suited for your purpose. Don't need another 240 getting @$)(*ed up.

Its a rwd vehicle, so drive accordingly. My 240 is was primarily purchased as a winter beater and does awesome. Put good tires on it and don't drive like its spring or summer.

I actually prefer my rwd nissan to front wheel drive during the snowing season.

If you can't handle it, stay home and let your mommy make you hot chocolate ;)

last winter i was driving my car lowered and on z rated tires with lil thread, dunlop sp5000's. i was fine in a couple inches with my lsd at least. u jstu have to be cautious, take ur time, and know ur limits. i should have beent he first one going into curbs and other cars but there were at least 5 accidents right outside my school with people in front wheel drive cars in the snow saying "i was doing like 2mph" one was my budies new sentra v-spec. but after more than says 3-4" i prolly would have been screwed. u should be ok. and its not best to add weight to the rear cuz if u do start to spin out than thats extra momentum to make the rear go all the way around. get an lsd

I drove my Z sideways down the street for a while during the winter in Boston.

Was a lot of fun, but not very practical.

i hear that more weight in back = increased pendulum effect due to increased mass = bad

I did perfectly fine last winter with all season bridgestone tires and a little bit of caution. The best thing to do is avoid steep hills and high speed roads regardless of what car or how good you feel your tires are. Lots of people get into trouble because they think that somehow snowtires magically give them dry weather traction.

I never had to add weight to the rear either. I have no lsd, just some pretty good tires and the most important part: common sense

On slippery surfaces start in second gear of you have a manual, and keep your rpms low while driving on slippery roads thereafter..

ditto... i've did no-weight last year & i was ok...

past 2 years i've added 2 bags of sand & that helped me too, esp. when i was stuck & grabbed a bad to use for traction...

all on el cheapo pepboys futura gls tires...

i'm currently figuring out how to mount $15 snow cables on the rear rims, just in case...

LSD= Limited Slip Differential

and its something you do not by any means need for winter driving. Not even remotely.

i drove an F-150 in snow and ice for 4 winters, now that is a female dog. trucks have HORRID weight balance (mine had to be like 80/20). i got by with a bunch of cinder blocks in the bed and extremely smooth steering, accelleration, shifting, and braking (think takumi)

I live in colorado so you know the winters her arent peachy. Any way i just got my 240sx like a month ago, and even with mine being a auto (man i want a 5spd) ive noticed that its not hard to spin the wheels on slipery roads. Anyway what im gettin at is that just driving safe is the way to go i mean dont be like me and romp on the gas while sittin on ice (even tho its hella fun) and secondly stay on major roads where the deicing is best. Anyway im not sure y i posted just felt like saying that. Take it easy guys and have a great day.~Jon

a little subject change, but how does the salt affect the rust up north, i mean in like KY, i live in texas so the only salt i see is on the beach or in on my grub. is it wise to get everything rust proof or is it a waste.
