I just got a '91 240sx se, and I have lots of trouble shifting. Sometimes it's really difficult to shift, and sometimes it won't shift at all. It usually only happens when I start from a stop, either going into first or reverse, but sometimes it will happen when shifting from first to second. I have no idea what's wrong, how to fix it, or how much it would cost. I would seriously appreciate some help on this. Thanks.

Could be several things:1 - air in the hydraulic system.2 - clutch pedal free play incorrect.3 - gear oil level too low in transmission.

sounds alot like your clutch is not disengaging correctly. like rogo said, there could be air in the system. there can also be a leak in either the clutch master or slave cylinders preventing you from generating pressure to move the clutch in and out. check the fluid level and check for leaks on the firewall and on the transmission.

anime-sounds like you have the same thing. if you have recently worked on your hydraulic system air is a definate possibility.
