im really thinking of this...but question...how hard is it?? I've looked through alot of 240 threads that did VG30et, and VG30DETT swaps..im not one for turbos (yet) so its all N/A power..what all is needed to do this?? 300zx ecu, and motor harness??? maybe cross member??

im currently driving a 1987 300zx 2+2 with a N/A VG30E, but i DO have a backup motor built in my garage haha and i might, not guaranteed, have a early 90's 240sx shell somewhat soon..

Think about this. The VG30e made the same about of power as the Ka24de that came in the car. Unless you have money to waste on a swap, id question yourself what do you want in the future and what your goals are. If you cant answer that i wouldn't do anything til you have a plan. Took me 5 months to come to the decision to swap in a V8 and now that i have the funds and time i couldn't think of anything else id want to do.

And obviously check the motor out that your interested in.

As for what you need goto the VG30E section of this fourm. Theres members there who have done this many times

Both made 155/160 rated HP from nissan. (but its more like 124hp lol) It was done to save on insurance. Thats why its a entry level sports car. Ive been around 240s since 05 and ive seen more boosted KA's then VG30s on a normal basis.

ka24e was 140hp/152tq
ka24de was 155hp/160tq
VG30e was 160hp/173tq.

Pretty sad i know this off the top of my head

iif ur going de then ull need a de harness. my advice if ur going de is to get a early 90's ka like 91-94. more aggresive cam's came in them but for simplicity and less parts i prefer the sohc ka's but they dont have as much aftermarket support as the dohc ka's.

Best setup if your on a budget

S13 (91-94) KA24DE (DOHC) Motor
2 - Exhaust cams from that same year motor. The one exhaust cam that goes into the intake to spin back counterclockwise 4 teeth and tighten to spec and thats the exhaust cam swap.
Next get a S14 KA24de Intake manifold, It has No secondary butterfly valves and flows better. (95+ they took out the butterfly valves but retarded the cams to make up for the gain in hp so thats why you need s13 exhaust cams and s14 intake manifold)
~msd ignition with NGK spark plugs/header etc.

I had this on my beater for 3 years and really opens the motor up. Or you can just put a KA together and drive it :chuckle:

I'm looking at throwing in a stock De, 5 speed, and the bare minimums to get it on the road, tho I was told the single cam was better for durablity
