this phenomenom has also happened to me. its like you said 75% done with drift or most likely spin out and bam this noise.

I'm not sure either, me and my friend just stop spinning out or didn't care. and our cars were stock height so nothing coulda touched the ground.

What you are most likely hearing is tire noise. This noise is created when the rear tires are trying to turn(because of the hicas) and you are sliding(putting extra load on the tire going sideways as opposed to straight). You are basically just fighting with the tire. I also had this problem before my swap, the solution, get more power. It no longer does it and my hicas still works.

If you have a decent amount of power hicas doesn't even make a difference.

it'll make a difference to someone who likes to attend drift events regularly. Im sure any professional would also say that they disaprove of hicas for drifting.

was the sound in the front or rear? could the sound be the fender hitting the tire? or the tire hitting the inner fender liner? i have had this happen to me. when it comes to the hicas issue. make do with what you have. i am sure the the hicas isnt going to help your drift at all but its not like its gonna make it imposible to slide the car. but hell i am a noob so you dont have to vallue my opinion.
