So my 240 sat alone for 2 years and now I want to drive her again. It won't start but it will turn over. smoke comes from the first spark plug terminal. gasket valve maybe? I'm not a mechanic by any means. all my mechanical knowledge is from Google. so I'm just crowd sourcing.

Perhaps you can test the resistance on your fuel injectors and you could pull out your spark plugs and inspect them for clues?

If car won't start, I guess getting hot and burning off oil can't happen so you shouldn't be having smoke. Did the old spark plugs look bad? If the new ones are in and you're getting smoke, would pulling them to look possibly show brown, white or black, even though your car won't seem to start? To test injectors, you use a voltmeter, set it to check resistence in Ohms, then check each injector at the plug (unplug wire harness, test injector prongs that are now exposed). how-to-test-fuel-injector-resistance-t416697.html Engines need spark, air and fuel. What else have you checked?

^agreed. You need to check the basics. If you pull a plug and you see you're getting spark, then move on to the other aspects. You can try spraying some starting fluid or gas down the intake (don't get it on the MAF) and cranking the car. If it starts and then dies shortly there after, you know you have some fuel problem.
If you still don't get anything, you should do a compression check.
