i am thinking of puchasing a 1991 240sx that is not a hatchback and i was wanting to know if there was a reason that i always see hatchback 240sx's and not trunk ones, whether the hatchback is better or they are both just as good

Just a matter of peresonal perfrence really. The hatch is more prevelant than the coupe. You cant find one...it has to find you.Coupes are stiffer and thats about it.

As far as facts, the coupe is lighter (less rear glass) by about 30 pounds, and stiffer(less flex in the rear part of the chassis due to additional metal behind rear seats, where the hatch has just a hole). I used to favor the hatch, but went with a coupe because it was available, and am glad that I did. IMO it looks cleaner, simpler than the hatch, and thats how the silvia came in japan. The hatch does have more space in the rear( coupe has tiny trunk), but this doesnt matter to me anyways. I have virtually nothing but cd's in my car at all times. Either way, they are the same car, and you will be happy with either. good luck

I got to hatches but I hat coupes...unless the top folds IMO a coupe has to have a wing it just looks so weird to me when there is nothing.

i just love me hatch, i like more trunk space because i usually move computers around(i sometimes go to "lan parties" and my computer case is quite big, dunno why i chose that though, i may be a computer geek, but i know same on both fields, cars and computers, anywayz the computer fits in the trunk easier than the seats, then i also move drag slicks for my brother when we go to the drag strip)its just a matter of preference, tho i for 1 don't like the coupe cause it looks just like most other cars from that era(ie integras, civics and what not, but that was the style back then), and i like the old look of the hatch.

(oh and for those who don't know what a lan party is, its a gathering(usually of friends) on a place where all bring their computers to play games over lan:P)

The problem of the hatch not being as stiff can be solved by a simple strut bar.

The hatch looks cleaner with the flip ups in the front. The coupe looks strange with the flip ups.

IMO it should be mandatory for all coupes to have a silvia conversion.

There are lots of hatches around. It took me a few months to find my coupe, reminds me I need to get it painted and throw on the silvia conversion soon.
