Hey guyz, I'm a bit of a noob here. I used to own a 240, but it got wrecked (not my fault, someone smashed into it while it was parked outside my house), and now I'm looking to get a new one any generation is fine. Looking in the New York area, [email protected] if any for sale.

Ok, now to the subject of this post. I just picked up the September issue of Super Street, and to my joyous suprise, this issue is dedicated to the 240sx, 180sx, Sil-Eighty's and Silvia's. Its about goddamn time. If any one has seen or has this issue, I'm hoping you could help me out here. Like I said before I'm new to 240's so I need some help. The twin 180sx's made for "Drifter X" and "Drifter XL" by Signal Auto started life as 180sx's produced in 1995. The fact that they are 180sx's means that the stock engine they came with was the "CA18DET" right? But later in the article it says that the CA18DET's where swapped out for SR20DET's. Does this change what they would be called? Or is there a new name for them? Maybe I dumb, but it doesn't make sense to me to keep calling them 180sx's if the don't have the CA18DET engine anymore. Can anybody shed some light on this subject for me.:help

180SXs did indeed come with SR20 blacktops later on but retained the same name, only with the addition of "Type-X" on the end.Old 200SX Turbos here came with a CA18ET and the 2 door Sentra atrocities that bore the "200SX" name came with some craptastic 1.6 litre BS in the girly trims....Go figure.

yup, 180sx only had CA18's for the first two years of production, same as our single cam KA24's

in most of the rest of the world. s-cars with SR20's are called 200sx

It's all good if you want to call it a 180sx, silvia, sileighty, and so on. this way when you talk about either cars, we'll know what you're talking about as to wether it's the fastback or coupe. much easier for the hardcore nissan fans to identify instead of having to ask if it's a coupe or fastback.

Interesting facts.

Funny how Japanese call ours 240sx. So hence, Silforthy= Silvia front on 240sx. "I am not kidding on this one."

But our 240sx coupe model is Onevia in Japan. SO I guess our 240sx coupe with siliva front is coupvia??? or twovia...Confusing eh???!?!?!

It really does not matter I guess. Just do what you like and call what you like, but don't regret it... It's your $hit not mine.

We call our cars...what was that again? Yeah we call them by the chassis code, hence S13, S14, S14a. Hmm...

The main reason Japanese calls cars by the chassis code to is to know what year and model you are driving. So when a kid says I have a honda civic. You have no clue what year and what model. So when the kid says EK# or EG# then you know what model Honda and propably guess the year... Most of the Japanese car model have five year life cycle. So in Japan we call cars by model name or sometimes chassis code. Everyone knows 180sx (one eighty) because it's only one model made. Yeah yeah type x, but still 180~~~ I rarely seen people refer 180sx to as RPS-13. But Siliva is a different story S12, S13, S14, and S15. So, whatever you call it as long the as the other person understand what you got.
