hey guys i need some help asaabout 6 weeks ago i bought an 89 hatch from a friend, has the 2.4L single cam and auto, hasnt been used in yearsso now after a fuel pump, both fuel filters, oil, plugs, seafoam, restore in the oil, air wilter, battery, and a few other odds and ends i got it to work, sort ofwhen its running i had to crank the idle up to about 1500 to keep it running and smooth, because when the idle is below about 1200rpms the engine rocks back and forth really bad, and when i put it in drive the idle drops to around 700 and the engine shakes so bad the entire car rocks it will run and drive as is but it has very little power below about 2400rpms and if i come to a stop it dies if i dont put it in neutral, also when it is right at 1000rpms there is a noise coming around where the engine and transmission meet up, like of like a metal on metal sound, not very healthy ive tried everything i can think of and nothing, i know there is a vac leak , the nozzle right on top of the throttle body facing back has no hose on it, i would hook it up but i dont know where it goesany help would be great, i need this thing to get to work thanks

Im having a similar issue currently. spent all afternoon trying to fix it. first off fix your vacuum leak, post up a pic and im sure someone can tell you where it goes. Check your injectors (voltage and for gummieness, voltage should be around 11 ohms), plugs wires ectera. i even checked and adjusted my timing and still no dice. i have a sneaking suspission my issue may be a gumed up injector. ill have to pull them off tomorrow to know for sure. best of luck. as for the metal on metal, i have no idea.

definately do the plugs wires cap and rotor. a bad injector is also a real possibility as fuel will jelly if left to sit long and that jelly will waste an injector. fix up your vacuum leak as it will definitely cause idleing problems. after that hit us back up and let us know how its doing.

well the injectors are fairly new b.c the old fuel tank on it was rusted really bad and the rust was killing the injectors, butt it has a new tank on it and these injectors never came into contace with rusty gas, butt the car had sit for about 6 months. could that cause injectors to go bad? and ill pull them tommorow and how can i tell if they are bad?
