240 rear seal problems

Yeah Yeah I know this is probably a stupid question but I have to ask. I'm positive my rear seal is leaking transmission fluid. But someone told me if my rear seal was leaking it should be leaking engine oil. I have searched and come up with no clear and concise idea of what to do. I despirately need help!

if it is leaking transmission fluid were the transmission meets the engine, it is your transmission front seal. just a word mix up.
