I just recently got a 92' 240sx, it says turbo on the rear hatch but is it a real turbo or what?Kinda low on cash but what cheap parts and tune ups can I do to increase hp"s?

They don't come turbocharged from the factory in the USA. Check out the engine bay and see if a previous owner did a swap or something, but it's probably just a sticker someone put there. As for a hp increase... intake, exhaust, and plugs/wires are good starting points. Use the search button in the upper right corner and you can find damn near anything nissan related on this forum.

Does the sticker look like this? Turbo magazine probably sends out stickers, someone coulda slapped one of them on.

Before doing performance mods, get the maintenence up to date and make sure everything is running right. Plugs/wires, oils/fluids, inspect the timing chain, etc. just so you don't put money into upgrades for something that isn't going to happily accept them.

It doesnt really look like a sticker. Its white letters that say turbo looks like it came that way? Im not sure. Ill get pics soon. thanks.

Just look under the hood.If you see one of these -



Hooked up to the exaust manifold anywhere, then its a turbo.Chances are its not, and its just a decal, because im sure whoever you bought it from would have told you.

I love this car. Its a 92' hatchback, 185K miles, But it drives smooth. There is no turbo. But its not a sticker on the the back its just lettering right under the spoiler. Picked it up from some lady for 1300 bucks. Burns alittle oil but other than that its pretty decent shape. The cheesey foam plastic spoiler is about to fall off. Im a little new to the game so any info and tips would be appreciated.Im also gonna try to get some pics up. Its nothin special but I really like it.

you are probably going to find out that under that spoiler is rust, and probably a good amount of it. the spoiler retains moisture around the hatch and causes rust early on.

Yeah, its pretty loose and staring to rust a little. Im gettin a new one.

Why would you purchase a vehicle without knowing anything about it? Have you popped the hood yet?

Dont know too much about cars but its in pretty sweet shape and couldnt have have found a nicer car for the price. Gotta start somewhere.
