So I've been wondering for the past few years... why is it that people feel the need to argue one decision over another when the end result really depends on what the person in question wants to do.
Case and point... KA-T vs. SR. So many times I have been a part of these threads spouting one over the other, and seen the other postings by other people and often wondered to myself how any of this rivalry really has anything productive to add to the 240 community. The answer is indeed, no. I own an SR, and I hear all the time from random people such words and phrases as "bandwagon", "should have turboed the KA", "should have gotten a RB", "why?", and so on and so on. In all fairness these are often heard from people that have nothing other than dreams and aspirations to do their own un-unique "original" plans. The answer to that question is... "because I wanted to". Too many times I hear people trying to justify to others why they did a certain course of action, or why it's "better" to do this or "easier" to do that. I've known people that built KA-Ts, CAs, SRs, RBs, etc. and the end result is the same... alot of time, alot of effort, alot of hardships at times, and a (usually) happy owner in the end. The fact still remains that we own 240's and no matter what the hell we do to them no matter how unique, they are still 240s and we are all 240 owners. More and more people that have been in the community for a while are realizing just how idiotic it is to argue about the two engines, what they cost, or how much power Enjuku put down this week, or ooo that engine was stock!, or my friend so-and-so's brothers SR put down 500rwhp on 52 cents worth of mods. Why can't people just sit back and enjoy it all.
I love it when someone sits around and argues about how they've spent less on such and such and it does the same thing. Well, congrats... but the fact still remains it obviously isn't any better than what I got, so why are you running your mouth? My gas is cheaper for my SR than your KA-T because I live in Texas, do you hear me clammoring about that? No, because I've learned to respect anyone that gets anywhere with their cars, because thats what seperates the bullsh1ters from the real enthusiasts. I'm not encluding those that can't afford to just go drop thousands on a setup, we all used to be there, and if you stick with it, you'll get there. I'm talking about the people who have something and feel the need to rag another persons choice simply because they went another direction, which seems to be more of a self-reassurance than ignorance.
Are people entitled to their opinions? Hell yes. But I'm tired of hearing people rag on others because they have something different.
Am I perfect? by no means am I close! I am guilty of just about everything I've mentioned, and has been a large part of the reason why I can now sit back and laugh at how ignorant it all is/was.
Hi my name is Alan and I've spent over 3 grand on an SR that runs 14s if I'm lucky, and I LOVE it.
