My brother drove his 93 240 while it was heating up for a good while on the highway, finally when he exited the car just shut off by itself. I looked at it and it had 2 problems, almost no oil and no coolant.

I swapped the plugs, wires, water pump(which was bad), and thermostat. Fired up the car and it idles horrible...of course I put in oil too.

It drives but the engine vibrates and clanks. I did a compression check and got 120 150 150 100 (cyl 1 2 3 4).

I let the car run for a while and did not notice any overheating or smoke(white/blue) coming out the echaust. Even if the HG was blown, I doubt it would run so horribly(my old eclipse HG was shot and the car still ran fine aside the overheating). I also checked to see if plugs/wires were okay and in correct order.

Anyone have any advice on what I should be looking at to fix the rough idle problem, I want to look in every possibility before changing the HG or swapping engines...

Thanks.

Itmay not be it but try replacing the coolant temp sensor while ur at it ...I hear excessive overheating damages them quickly , as a result it will think its runing hot all the time and retard timing and dump a **** load of fuel to try to save itself...

If it was the temp sensor, I should be throwing a CEL right?

There is no CEL and no codes when I checked.
