OK before anyone says "asked/answered" or points to the search button I've already searched. I've spent weeks searching NICO (Everything kind of blends together at this point..) and the other Nissan forums and haven't found anyone that has come out and said what I'm looking for. I have a few mechanical questions on swaps and turbos.

My DD is an '05 G35 Coupe but I have always wanted a 240 (Not after I saw a riced out version or something in FF or w/e.. still looking at an MKII though..) What I would like to use the 240 for is as a tastefully done track car and every so often a daily driver. I'm leaning towards an SR20 because I'm not looking at anything above ~300hp and they seem to be pretty reliable and easy to get parts for. If the RB would be more reliable I could do that as well... But I'm thinking the transmission on the RB20 is weaker so the SR would be a better choice for me.

As far as turbos go, my only experience with turbos is on diesels and then only very low boost (4-6lbs). But these last forever (I've got 200k+ on mine and no shaft play). How does that transfer over to the 240? I know everything depends on how you drive and how well you take car of it. I'm not going to drive down main street racing mustangs, just hitting the track a couple times a year. I'm thinking average turbo with this kind of usage and considering the amount of boost required for ~300hp I'm looking at 50-70k'ish right? When it blows then is it just a rebuild?

I would have just posted in the newbie thread but it seems like only 1-2 people post on that with any regularity.

Oh ya... whats clutch life like?

Thanks,

You can build anything reliabel to 300whp as long as you build it right and have a great tune. You could use a KA, SR, RB, anything. As far as turbos go, i personally feel it is a hit or miss. Brand name or not, they can last a long time, or blow unexpectedly.

Get a clutch that can handle the power you want and it should last. That also depends on how hard its beat on.

best advice is to go to the individual motor forums and peruse the FAQs. You can make an informed decision that way

lol k.

The only thing I don't like about the RB20 is that its been so long since it was produced and theres no telling what kind of mileage is on one you get..

Thanks for the responses though,
