240 jumps revs then dies

I bought a 240 and had to replace them engine in it. I put in a ka24de.

my problem is my car will start then it jumps revs to 2500-3000 and then dies. I thought it was the MAF but when I replaced it nothing. right now the egr is open Bc I took off the egr valve but I have ordered a block off plate. please help thanks

You need to block off the EGR hole, that's most likely your issue.

Seconded. Having the EGR open is basically allowing the engine to suck in a TON of unmetered, unfiltered air straight into the intake manifold.

First off, this air is something the engine is not anticipating, as the MAF is what senses how much air the engine is getting. This sends a signal to the ECU to let it know how much fuel it needs to spray in, in layman's terms.

Trying to run an engine like that will foul it and make it run lean as f*** (Because there's so much more air than fuel)...though, as we can see, if it even runs at all, because there's likely too much air and not enough actual combustion.
