I have learned a LOT from racing this thing on the ice. I've learned I need an LSD, I learned I need an SR20... kidding, but those would be nice too. Since this is my first RWD car, I've been dying for any chance to test it's limits, ice racing is a great training aid.
My tires are hand built. The fronts are a 195/65/14 summer/all-season with about 350 1" #8 sheet metal screws put in them with the points on the outside. These work good, but after a couple hours, the screws push in and I lose air. And I really should have made them out of snow tires for better grip when there is actual snow on the ice. On the rear I have some Nokia Hakka 10s in 185/70/14. The rears are built out of 1-1/4" bolts intalled from the inside out. On the inside I have 1" fender washers under the head, and on the outside, just some regular washers with nylocks and some threadlocker. I have about 300 bolts and 5 hours in each tire. I use a can of fix-a-flat in each tire and I don't have a lot of trouble holding air. The bolt tires lose a bit, bit I just fill them once a day and they are fine. I found a pic on the web to give you and idea. The bolt tires are halfway down on the left side.
