I just picked a 1992 240sx for 200 dollars, the only problem is that the motor is slightly knocking because he left the oil cap off but its not knocking real bad because I drove it home, A mechanic at a shop told me it would cost somewhere around 1000 dollars to fix. I was wondering if ya'll have any ideas to where I can fix this or places to where I can buy a rebuild kit at good price? I also heard it could just be the bearings in the crank and replacing them would stop the knock but i am not sure. Let me know what ya'll think.

I would check to see if you have a bad bearing. If you dont know how, you need to have the car turned on and running, then pull each plug wire off, if the knocking stops when you pull off one of the wires, then you might have a bad bearing.

Don't rebuild it. Just buy a whole new one. That is if we are talking about the KA24
