I have been looking at 240's early 90's 91-94 i was told to either drop an sr20det in to it or a KA24 engine into it. Im just curiouse with both of these engines what is the best exhaust systems for them. For the sr20det what is the best size headers,down pipe, high flow cat, catback exhaust, and muffler. ANd also what is the same for the KA24 motor. ALso in anyones opinion what engine is better the ka24 or sr20det i am really eager to know and would very much appreciate the information due to the fact that im getting a 240 soon. thank you

The KA24DE is the stock engine in the 91-98 240sx models. The SR20DET is a turbo motor from the S15s and other Nissan models. As far as which one is better, it just depends on what you're looking for.

well i found out im going to go with the sr20det engine but if you would mind telling me if you know what the best exhaust fit is for them. Becuase you can just get like 3.5 inch exhaust and cat and headers and down pipe but it wont hold the back pressur and all that. I was just curiouse what is the best size of headers downpipe high flow cat the cat back exhaust and muffler that works best for an sr20det 240?

Well to help you out noob first let me say that the SR is a good engine. As for exhaust your best bet would be no less than a 3'' cat back system. Also you won't have any "HEADERS" with the SR, just the manifold that the turbo bolts to. If you want to up grade from there then that's a good thing too. Also it will be pretty useless to put a CAT on your car with an SR motor as it serioulsy henders the performance of owning a boosted engine. The only real problem you are going to have is that since my wife is from Portland I know first hand that Oregon has adopted the same Smog Laws and regulations as Cali so there is no way you are going to be able to smog your car with an SR motor. What you do from here is up to you.

What he said...

Headers... HA

I personally Have a Stock Dump Pipe, 3 Inch Greddy Down Pope, 3 inch test pipe(replaces the cat) and a Jasma Spec R33 3 1/4 inch Exhaust (modded to fit of course)

smog = emissions

Do a search (top, right-hand corner) for "sr20det smog" or "sr20det emissions", etc.

Some people claim they can/have passed emissions with the cat/stock jdm engine.
