240 doesn't want to stay running and wife is pissed at me. Please advise!

I have a 91 240sx with ka24DE. Its the LE if that matters. I been doing a little of this and that. Recently I changed the plugs and removed the AIV thing. I plugged the vaccum lines. and welded the exhaust hole shut. When I start the car it idles nice and then when it tries to kick down to the lower idle it carries on and eventually shuts off. I drove this car previous (warmer out) and it didn't do this. Also I don't have the air filter currently on but then I really don't drive the car yet either. THe mass air is on and hooked up. Any ideas?

can you rev it up and it stay running you might have a leak in the intake hose or loose wiring i had a problem in mine in the harness that goes to the tps and there is another harness right beside it try wiggling them to see if it makes a difference thats about all i know you have to be losing fire or fuel to make it die like that i would thinkso just eat alot of oreos and watch scary movies and it will fix its self
