sorry if its kinda long this is what happened
well my 96 240 automatic transmission isnt downshifting, this is how it happened, I was making a u-turn gave it 3\4 gas pedal, the open diff fryed the inside tire, i let off at 5k just enought to hear the engine slow down and then i floored it again. ( harsh i know but big cars were coming after waiting 10 mins at this damned light). well after I let off from the tire spin it just bogged, i listened no weird noises, mashed the gas pedal and didnt down shift, just accelerated slooooow, i put it in neutral and it reved and had power. I put it back in D and accereted, still slow. i pulled over checked transmission fluid level is good and the engine oil was good too. I started off on a sideroad in 1, from a stop floored it and it was in second never shifted and reved to 6k@63mph then i put it into d and it went into 3rd, didnt have enough road to wind 3rd out. didnt want to drive it any more and i was home. The torque converter is not slipping, i put it in neutral reved it up 2000 rpms and put it in D and it jerked strong, the fell on its face accelerating like it was in a gear too high. I looked around under the hood and didnt see any vacume lines off or any hoses undone or anything out of place. When i was in 3rd @ 3800rpm i turned off the over drive it didnt change the revs, wether it was on or off.
if your still reading thank you
my automotive knowledge is only internet, but i belive that there might be a problem with the line that supplies the line pressure to the transmission, if it broke/cracked/poped off then the transmission would see atmosphere pressure and not see the load of the engine when i step on the gas, so it wont down shift, just my guess.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated, and sorry if the post is a bit long but i think here are all the facts.
87000 miles on engine and transmission, oil changed 500 miles ago, has been running beautiful, south florida 90 degree weather.
