hey i know this is a kinda crazy engine....but i keep having this wicked idea of a nissan titan 5.6 v8 engine in a 240....ive seen american v8's slapped into a 240 and i think a true nissan v8 into a 240 would kinda mystify those american v8 guys....anyone ever seen this done...i heard someone did it but never seen it.

If the nissan V8 is aluminum block and head then there won't be a big enough gain in wieght to matter. It might even wiegh less than the iron block KA. As long as it isn't to far in front of the struts then it should be negligible due to corner wieghting and wieght reduction.

The inhibiting factor will be cost and the difficulty of finding a totaled Titan... and the obvious custom work.

Bigger engines don't usually weigh all that much more. I mean you've got to figure you're mostly adding empty space to increase displacement. Going from a I to a V will increase the weight just due to having another head though.

i thought it would be a neat idea. i seen the q45 motor in a 240 here locally once...it was cool...i enjoyed it alot. but if you can do a q45 engine then why not a 5.6 titan engine. throw some nitrous or turbo the bastard. Weve all seen the 300zx swap done so why not 5.6v8 swap....im gonna look into it more.

you should look into that, i saw a couple of pics of a toyota 4.0L V8 that aparently weights less than a built sr20det.

if the titan 5.6L V8 is as narrow as that 1(i think its either 90 or 60 degree), then i say it should fit.

(shouldn't this go in tech?)

The only problem i see is fitting it between the shock towers. the 5.6 is a much bigger motor then the 4.5L(comparable to a sb350). and it's dohc which means the heads are huge(by comparison). would be alot of work but a fun project nonetheless.

I see wrecked titans on ebay all the time. that would probably be your best place to start looking.

Hmm...379 ft-lbs... at 3600RPM...Wow...

That'd give those 'the KA is a truck engine' pricks something to REALLY talk about...

Watched pinks on day and a s13 with a v8 in killed 5.0. What kind I don't know but it was fast and looked like it fit just fine. I think it could be done but a wiring mess.

ahh, somewhere in the low 10's.

believe it was mostly stock engine to get to 10's(gutted car, ford rear end, couple of bolt ons and tune), this 1 also had nitrous but they didn't use it.
