Bare with me on this....

A guy that works with my GF's dad, has a 240, 260, or 280Z... Her dad doesn't know exactly but he wanted me to ask.... (he thinks its a 240 tho).

Wanting to know if there is a 5 speed that can easily be put in the car to replace the 4 speed... This may be a noob question, i don't know the classic Z's very well yet so i didn't have an answer for him.

If you can, provide as much info as possible... Thanks guys.-Ryan

there was a factory 5 speed available in 77 and 78, any 280ZX 5 speed will bolt in but the 82-83 T-5 is stronger but requires mosifying the trans mount bracket, some of the roadster 5 speeds bolt on as well but they are few a far between, you can also do a hybrid using a 240sx, or z31 n/a 5 speed, quite a bit more imvolved but readilly available, the driveshaft might need to be changed depending on the chassis, diff and transmission involved, be sure to get the vin number of the car, there are a lot of subtle canges we can identify by the vin

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the JDM fairlady Z's come with 5spd MT?

Maybe pick one of those up?
