235/50/17 or 245/45/17 on a 99 touring? 255/45/17 maybe??

what do you guys think is a better size for the 99 touring?i was even thinking of going with the stock 225/50/17 in the front staggered with 255/45/17 in the rear but dont know for sure if i would have rubbing issues.

255/45-17 will give you the correct profile and OEM diameter, but you will need an 8.5" wheel width (ideally) with +30 mm to +35 mm offset, close as possible to OEM wheel weight and strength.

so theres no way i can put 255/45/17 on the stock 17x7.5?i would not want to part with the stock wheels

Then go for the 245/45-17. Get the right tire and you should be happy.

225/50/17 has insufficient load rating for the car.

Stick with non-staggered fitments unless you have staggered wheels.

FWIW, I ran 255/40/17 for years on my 99 Q wheels. Best tire / wheel setup I ever put on that car.

Well on the Tire Rack site for a Goodyear F1DS G3, the recommended wheel widths for a 255/45-17 is 8"-9.5".

But I have never run that size on those wheels.

I did run 245/50-16 SZ50 EP on the 16" x 7" 20 holers and loved them. Second favorite tire after PS2.
