235/40R18 tires?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey everyone, I just picked up a loaded 2008 EX35 with low mileage today. The tires have lots of life left on the factory wheels. However, I have some nice 18's from my old Subaru that would bolt right on. They have like new rubber on them but with a lower sidewall than the 55 that are currently on it. They are either a 40 or 45 profile, I can't recall.

Would it be ok to use these? Any issue with the lower overall height? If so, I can just sell the wheel package and buy some bigger wheels.

Thanks all, really looking forward to driving this thing.

That's a bit of a drop in size, and I don't recall seeing anyone here go with a tire that short. I'm running 235/55R17 on my EX with no issues. The smallest I can remember is seeing forum member AWGD8 run Q40 rims and 225/55R17 tires on his.

That's what I was thinking. Might just sell the wheels and tires and get some 19" or 20" wheels for the winter.

That tire size calculator is awesome, thanks a bunch! Looks like if I want to go with a bigger wheel, the ideal sizes are 245/40R20 or 235/45R19. Guess it's time to wash up my wheels and sell them.
