By the numbers the 235/40-17 measures 24.40" tall, 235/45-17 measures 25.33" tall, both with 9.25" section width

Nearly an inch taller OD. Are you prepared for the effective axle ratio change, and thus, power loss upon acceleration?

The "J" or JJ symbols you see on a given wheel designates the shape of the wheel's tire mounting(seating) surface.

It does not designate tire size, width, tread depth, treadwear rating, traction, temperature rating, or any other facet or attribute of a tire or tire discussion. Please keep this in mind. :) I don't want our NICOnauts to be mis-informed about this stuff

hehe ok i will keep that in mind when using obscure symbols :)

keeping in mind that this setup is going to be for drifting (not trying to double up and go autox road race blah blah) if you had to pick any other tire size besides 235/40 for 9 front 10 rear wheels, what would you pick? debating wether to find a different size in the same tire, or to go with a completly different tire.

i feel that 225 would be too small for the 10, and i want to keep it the same size all around so that i can rotate. They carry 245/40 in st115 for nearly the same price, but my car is pretty slow as it is and im not sure if i could handle the extra weight.

any ideas guys?
