+22WHP from tuning and timing with rb20det....running in about 12.1-12.3 a/f ratio....what are you guys running at?

194.4WHP 3" full exhaust + apexi s-afc2 (automatic)

I got to tell you that tiny side mount IC gets HEATSOAKED BAD! I REALLY NEED TO GET A FMIC!

timing is huge on rb's, and it shows... and yeah definitly get a fmic, i will be dynoing my rb25 with a spearco fmic, and a 3" exhaust, probably stock boost to see what its at... should be interesting ... get some videos or something!

What was your timing at?

and by "automatic" do you mean transmission or safc settings?

man timing i dont know...the timing is wierd on this engine...

like those timing marks were off completley. if i had it on 20degree timing it would be horrible...if i had the mark on the last mark to the right then it would be OK...actually i bet i could have timed it better if my CAS would go further counter-clockwise...maybe my timing belt is off?

ALSO is turning timing counter-clockwise advancing timing?

i have automatic transmission....unfortunatley...

here is what the s-afc2 was tuned at:

1000rpm 0%cor1600rpm 0%cor2200rpm 0%cor2800rpm 0%cor3400rpm -2%cor4000rpm -8%cor4600rpm -9%cor5200rpm -10%cor5800rpm -13%cor6400rpm -14%cor7000rpm -14%cor7600rpm -14%cor

That is weird about your timing, that would mean you're at like 30 deg btdc, you must not be doing something quite right when checking maybe?

i hooked timing gun sensor pickup thing to the black coilpack wire (i know it was the right wire cuz it read out good on the dyno tach)

idle is 750-800rpm

i didnt discconect TPS...i dont know i adjusted timing counter clockwise on the dyno and it worked well...

30 is WAY advanced. You have to disconnect the TPS or it will be wrong. It should be at 15 degrees, but I've read some places it should be 20 (at idle).

Try checking it again.

Hey, did you get the Walbro fuel pump?

You probably have WAY too much fuel pressure, that is why its running so rich.

The Walbro pump overruns the stock fuel pressure regulator, meaning that the regualtor cannot allow enough fuel to flow through to consistantly maintain 43PSI....the last car I checked was 51-56 at idle with the vacuum off.

This Walbro upgrade is what is making all the cars run so rich.

I highly recommend that everyone double check their fuel pressure and reset it with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

YOU CAN'T DISCONNECT THE TPS ON THE RB20DET.... IT JUST ACCELERATES OUT OF CONTROL WHEN THE TPS IS DISCONNECTED. YOUR SUPPOSED TO DISCONNECT THE AAC VALVE SENSOR WHEN YOU IDLE AND TIME IT THOUGH.

As per the R32 FSM:

timing is 20º at idle (900 rpm)timing light should be connected to looped wire (#1 cyl)do not disconnect TPSdo not disconnect AAC

However, to set idle speed, you first disconnect the AAC and then adjust to 900 rpm using the AAC screw, then reconnect AAC and if it changed from 900 rpm, turn the ECU pot to bring it back.

hmm ill try adjusting idle next time

thx for the tips on the fuel pressure stuff... yes i have a walbro 255 pump thats probably why its running so rich...

What boost level are you running at? I know Nissan ECU's will run very rich if you turn the boost up. They also retard the timing too. My car runs real wierd since I upgraded the stock turbo. I am only running 9 PSI but I will hit fuel cut on cool nights.

that is weird, what RPM do you hit fuel cut and does it vary by gear?

Do you have the fuel pressure reset at 43 PSI also?

Man, everytime I turn around someone has a different way to set timing...one person says disconnect tps, another says disconnect aac, then others say not to, then some say 15 degrees, some say 20...

Is that R32 fsm the real deal for the rb20det and not rb20e?

IN MY JPNZ R32 FSM IT SAYS 15 BTDC @ 650 RPM. AND YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT THE AAC VALVE SENSOR IDLE IT, TIME IT, RECONNECT THE AAC VALVE, SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND RESTART IT.

Funny thing about my car is it will hit boost cut in 1st gear around 6800 RPM's and then 2nd 3rd are fine. If I shift into fourth gear and floor it I will get boost cut most of the time. I would say around 5500 or so. Maybe lower.

YOUR RB25 RIGHT?

I'VE BEEN HAVING THAT LIMITER PROBLEM OFF AND ON LATELY.... BUT I NOTICED IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR REGISTERS AT OPERATING TEMP OR HIGHER.

i get the same thing in my 3rd gear for my automatic trans. EVERY single run on the dyno at about 6,400-6,800rpm it just CUTS OFF...and I KNOW my car redlines closer to 7,500-7,900rpm...how do i fix this "spark cut"?

Thanks

I don't think there is a spark cut. I am pretty sure it's a fuel cut (Most stock cars are that way). Did you regap your plugs? What boost are you running?

MY PLUGS ARE GAPPED AT .68 ON STOCK BOOST..... I TIMED MY CAR TO 30 BTDC AND IT WENT AWAY FOR THE MOST PART BUT OCCASIONALLY HAPPENS IN 2ND (55MPH+) AND 4TH (105MPH+) GEAR.
