I'd stay away from the 03's, but if you have to get one, make sure it's had the TSB's.

Contrary to the opinion on this forum that the feathering problem is not really an issue and as simple as an alignment, lots of 03 owners are still having the issue way past their warranty period, and Nissan will do NOTHING about it.

03s had tranny issue, feathering, power windows, window grease all kinds of annoying issues.

I'd still rather have an 03 then none at all.

I bought my 04 base with 24k miles for 21,700. I didn't think any of the options on the up models were worth a dime, so that was my reasoning.

I think itsa good deal. While as ryan pointed out problems exist among some vehicles they are generally addrerssed ( and usually successfully so) by a TSB.

Many 03's around with zero problems.

Plus its a Touring.

Go for it.

not meaning to hijack the thread but what sorta transmission issues does the 03 have? i have this sound coming from under the car when i'm slowly letting the clutch out when i have to creep along in traffic, it also makes the noise when i'm just barely moving i wanna say 5-10 miles an hour. A kinda muffled grinding metal sound.

That sound is compeltely normal

The only real symptom for tranny problems with the Z is usually very hard gear engaement, often second or third.

First is hard of course if you are too fast even if tranny good.

Generally if there is a tranny problem wityh a Z itshows up fairly early in the cars life.

The vast majority of 03 trannys have no problems at all, even with hardest use.

I know the car is built on 6/03 so don't your think its a late 03 and most of the stuff other then the tire noise should be fix when it was built since its a late 03?

I Looked at the tires on the inside and out of the front it does not feel or look like its wearing but you can really hear it around 20MPH and he said about 2 months ago he took it to Nissan and they told him everything is ok. I have been doing my research on the problem and I found out Nissan has a new tire for it but i can't find when did Nissan start to replace the new tires on it! And Since it only has 17K on it, does his factory warranty would pass down to me? or is just for the org owner?

I am sorry, if its kinda hard to understand me, i know my English is not very good

So If I buy the car I should take it to the dealer to get the front tires replace and get a alinement to -.2 on toe that should fix the front nosie.

But do your think the factory warranty would pass down to me? or is just for the org owner?

Thanks Man

The treads make me feel alot more comfortable on getting a Z. It sound like all it need is new tires (not OEM) and a good alinement!

I don't know about getting new tires, I mean if they don't have any feathering and all you might have to do is get an alignment.

I haven't really driven a big selection of cars/tires but these oem bridgestones to me kick a$$. I love them to death, the road noise is alil loud at times but its a small price to pay for how well they grip.

Very TrueHere is the fun part I am buy this car for my soon to be wife, so I know for sure she won't pass 80MPH and never even push more then 20% of what the tire and car is able to grip! Unless I drive it! LOL
