So this car I initially loved is starting to really trouble me. I'm already having the dreaded fuel pump problem and this morning on my way to work I get the check engine light. I was hoping it was just me forgetting to put the gas cap back on but after a quick check it wasn't the case.

My Versa SL Sedan is my first new car ever and I am becoming quite discouraged with these problems. It's running fine so I have no clue why the light is on unless it's one of those lights to get me to go to a dealer for a check up or something. I haven't read anything here about that so I'm going to have to spend my holiday fun times getting these problems looked at by the dealership.

Anyone have any past experience with this or any recommendations on how to handle this in the Vegas area?

Hi Red Whale,

I had the same issue with mine at 1500 hundred miles and was throughly ticked off until I had to make an uneccesary trip to my son in college. On the way there I did about 80 to 85 just to make up for future lost sleep time and after that trip, the check engine light went away and has been gone now at 3300 miles, I'm thinking there must be a pollution device that builds up carbon on these V's, I could be wrong and probably am but that's what happened with mine. Good Luck and watch out for tha Christmas trees!

Run up to your local Auto Store (i.e., AutoZone, etc.). They will read the code (normally it is free). Once you have the code - we can look it up and see what your ride is trying to tell you.

Or...I don't know...TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. It's still covered under warranty and I wouldn't want to keep driving on a code that could potentially damage the car long-term when it's this young.

But that's just my opinion. That's why they give you a warranty...

Hypothetically speaking, the code could be related to the fuel pump. The fuel pump problems occur when the system loses pressure, and an improperly sealed gas cap could throw a similar code.

But certainly have the dealer check it out when you take it in for the fuel pump issue.
