Hi. I have the Rogue AWD SV w/ SL package and came with the dunlop 7000. These were pretty bad tires and now looking for new ones. Everywhere I look the only options are those original dunlop and the yokohama AVID Envigor.

I went to Costco and they said they have no tires for our car. The problem seems to be the V rating of the OEM tires and most options in this size are H rating.

What are people choosing with this tire size? I was going to go with the Envigors but it seems to have poor snow/ice traction.

I also seem to get conflicting info about using the H rating tires. Some say it doesn't matter but some say I shouldn't go lower and it will be downgrade performance/handling.

Can someone please help on choosing or what they would recommend? Any experience with the envigors? Thanks.

What year is your Rogue? Try Tirerack.com

V rating is for 149mph, which you will not be going in the Rogue lol.

You are fine to move one away from V to H. Talk to the people at tirerack, they will tell you the same thing.

Hey. My model year is 2011. I thought the speed was the only thing that mattered with the rating of the tires. But then a couple of tire places told me that the speed rating is more than the max speed. It also deals with torque, handling etc. They both were pretty adamant of not putting lower speed rating tires. Talked to the tirerack guy and he said it did not matter if I went to H rating. Costco said i can go wider to 235 so that I would have more V-rated options, but not sure I want to do that either. So thats where I am getting confused.

Were your tires 18"?

They are correct it also has some to do with handling and other things, how much I don't really know. It may have to do with the traction, temperature, etc ratings.

I do know a lot of people on here specifically with 2008, 2009 Rogues had switched to the Hankook Optimo H727 which has a speed rating of T, while the OEM tires were H and loved them. You can do a search on the forum.

Many tire manufacturers will not warranty their tires if installed on a vehicle that calls for a higher speed rating, so be aware of that.

As for dropping from V to H on a 2011 Rogue, I wouldn't see much problem with it from a safety risk standpoint. Mostly what happens when you go to a lower speed rated tire, the walls of the tire are softer (and sometimes the rubber on the tread is harder, making for slightly worse traction but better longevity) making the ride squishier with worse handling.

But with 18" wheels and only a 55 profile, I wouldn't worry about squishiness, not when the 16" wheels on the base model came with 70 profile tires. If anything, you might want to make your ride a little softer, and I don't think your handling would be affected in the slightest in this case. I think the 225/60/17 tires that came on the SV hit the perfect sweet spot for the Rogue.

Great! Thanks for the info guys.

Just to be clear, go with the 225/55/18 with the H rating(since u say make the car softer??

I didn't say do one thing or another. All I said is I don't think you'll have any safety or handling issues going down to an H rating for this specific vehicle. But you have to weigh that against the possibility that a tire manufacturer may void your warranty for installing H rated tires on a vehicle that calls for a V rating on the specification plate.

If you decide to go with an H rating, that removes Costco as an option as well.

yes, yes, used the wrong words. just making sure that particular size was OK to use in your opinion. I don't think tire warranties come in play that often, at least not so far in my my 5 vehicles. so, i am ok with foregoing the warranty.

Daryl, yes i read the whole thread. Just didn't see anything specific to this size and was wondering what other forum members used if they had these as OEM tires.

Thanks again.
