I have a 92 240sx coupe and what i am wondering is if 225/50/15 will be alright in the front without rubbing? Im assuming that they will be alright in the rear (for I have seen 245s on the rear of a coupe) Let me know what you think!

they don't have a chance of fitting man!!! that is assuming you have +60 offset rims Im pretty sure people have fit wider then 225 tires on an s13 before so its all gonna come down to were your rim places the tire in relation to were the wheel bolts to the hub...(ie offset) post your offset and rim width and maybe some one can give you a real answer.

I have no clue what offset i have. I know i have 15 inch epsilon mesh. I could just go with the 215s then.

how wide are they? you dont wanna put a 225 on anything less than a 7.5 inch rim. It will not help your handling. However, a 225 will fit fine with proper offset. If you do have a decently wide wheel, next step would be to check the current clearance of your tires. how much room do you have on both sides and what size tires are you currently running. Btw, 225/50 is smaller overall diameter than stock.

Right now i have 50s on my car (and i do notice somewhat of a speedometer miscalculation). Do you think i should do 55s then?? I believe that my wheels are 7 inches wide. Thank you for your help.

yeah, 50 ratio will put your speedo off, but it will reduce rotating mass, and result in quicker gearing, so your car will be faster. I have a 4.4 diff in my car instead of the 4.1 ratio that is stock which has a similar gearing effect. I dont think that it is a bad thing to have smaller tires, as long as the highway rpm is not bothering you. I would say that you should use a 205/50 or 215/50, but 225 is kinda pushing it. A 225 would fit on a 7 inch wheel, but not well. There would be alot more sidewall flex than with a 205, and so you may have better grip in a straight line, but handling will be sloppier, tires will tend to roll over more. I have 7" wide wheels up front and 8" in the rear running 205/55/16 and 225/50/16. the tires fit well and are the same overall diameter as stock.

If your changing tire widths the aspect ratio won't be the same. So if you have 205/50/15 and you switch to 215/50/15 you would have a larger over all diamiter. The 50 is the percent of width the side was is...so in the case of a 205mm wide tire the 50 means the side ways is 102.5 (or 205*.50)

from what you were saying it didnt sound like you understood that, unless your keeping the same width of tire...

yes. ^ more good info. Do a seach for tire size calculator on google. You can find some sites that will help you with sizing. They make it easy to compare the sizes of up to like 4 tires.
