"I know someone that is selling the EXACT 22" rims locally in washington state. They sold the car it was on and just selling these. If interested contact me at
[email protected] much"
That someone would not happen to be you ATSELLAB?
Let me guess...RIDE quality in those bumpy/questionable Washington roads went to hell as a result of so little sidewall. And, the car remaining balanced is a issue. Luxury is all but gone with the thrill.
I went to 20 inch wheels and really test drove them first to see if I could stand the degradation in ride quality with a used set I borrowed from a friend. I was satisfied. The improved look along with improved handling won me over.
The thing about new tires and new rims is that they will change over the long run. Especially when you go up in size. Bigger size wheels do demand better quality wheels along with tires to retain some assemblance of factory. As some have said before, balancing, ride quality, and overall performance become more sensitive as wheel size goes up. Wheels are the quickest way to improve the look of a car.
Initially, my ride quality was actually a little softer than the 19's. Handling really was soft. Could not feel the road (minimal driver feedback). 900 miles later and now my combo is handling like a dream. Ride quality has gotten a little stiffer but remains relatively supple. The car is a handling beast! Extremely fun to drive. Compliments roll in frequently. The car is super smooth and quiet at highway speeds. Hopefully she will remain this way...
I'm not trying to steal this thread. But others should know that up sizing is risky business. It can be very rewarding (especially at first), but also can be equally long term disappointing.
Fact: 20's are pushing it, and 22's have pushed it.
Forged wheels are ideal because they keep roughly the same weight going from 18 to 19, 19 to 20, so on and so forth for a given amount of strength. They wiegh about 30% less. Then you're only dealing with less sidewall and scrub radius (offsets).
Since I went with sturdy non forged 20 inch wheels, I now have a extra 10 pounds on each corner (50 to 60). So far I'm extremely happy I did it. Time will tell in regards to the future.
I'll remain honest about it so others can learn. If indeed long term wise they become undesirable, then I too will see a set just like mine for sell.
