i have a friend with a Z31 turbo and hes running 21psi, and he refuses to tell me what hes done to it. I used to think he was lieing but his boost gauge dosent lie, and the sound it makes is nuts

Now what ever his set up is, its sure as hell not legal. He has a photoshopped inspection sticker, 3inch exhaust with no muffler or cat, i cought a glimpse of his engine and thats all thats under there is an engine, no emissions crap no ac, no window wiper fluid resivour barely any vanuum lines lotsa hks and greddy **** but it was long ago and i didnt know what anything was.

He can smoke the tires at 60mph and have been in the car when he smoked a viper by a decent amount so his car has some major major power.

Now im not looking to make insane power like that, but i would like to run about 18psi, what kind of modifications would i have to make to be able to do this. 1988 300ZX turbo

well with a boost controller you can get up to 16 psi no problem cut off the exaust is good and on top of that you can spray a 75-100 dry with everything in the motor stock but you might want to get a clutch and do something about the rear end

uhh.... You need more than a boost controller to safely boost 16 psi. With the stock turbo, the stock ECU runs out at 12.5 psi. The stock injectors are good for 14.5 psi. And the turbo will be way inefficient much above 15 psi anyway (creating more heat than pressure).
