Ok im looking to run about 20 psi on my rb20det right now I got acoil pack conversionFMICno exhaustopen air filterand soon to be new turbo (modified vg30)

Right now i am boosting 14 psi I think the accuator was changed in japan as the motor bolted in boosted 14psi. What would need to be done to boost 20 psi using a safc to tune. I know I need a 255 fuel pump and adj. regulator

I'd say z32 or q45 maf and bigger injectors to be on the safe side.

What about injectors? your not going to get far on the stock 270cc injectors. There prob maxing way out since your on the stock pump. "Your going to shoot your eye out kid". I think were going to be in for a "RB20's suck mine blew up" thread. If you want your cool new engine to live I'd suggest you not drive it till you get a chance to get way more fuel into it and some way to control it. Well thats before the stock turbo comes apart.

Read up a little before you start playing with your motor man. Plus, saying "x amount of boost on this motor" means nothing. How much boost for a certain turbo does, however. You can make 500hp @ 14psi with one turbo, and 300hp @ 25psi with another. Boost isn't what busts head gaskets and breaks motors, it's knock (****ty tune, not enough supporting mods, etc) or to much hp (like way more than 350 for a stock rb20).

Stock turbo = no more than 13psi (not for long at least).

+1

Which the SAFC is going to give you the ****ty tune, having no air filter, exhaust, etc etc sounds like your taking the short cut way out. So get the supporting mods (which you can find out by searching like Cjmartz said).

Its all common sense on what you need. One thing leads to another so it isn't too hard.

ok i never said i didnt have a air filter i said it was an open air filter as in aftermarket ( K&N ) I have been looking into injectors but im trying to decide what size would be suitable for 20 psi IF you read the first post I already have a turbo to go on the car it will run 20 psi easy its a modified vg30 turbo. The reason im going with a safc to tune is I dont have 1k-1.8k to spend on an ecu or power fc. All I want is a idea of what needs to be modified to run 20psi or if you want a power number say 350-400 hp

You will need some type of fuel management or stock ecu tune to scale for 20psi and support your injectors and such.

to run 20 psi a z32 maf or q45 (stock rb20 maf hits fuel cut after 15 psi)450cc injectors your modified vg30 turbo and the apex afc

that will get you your 20psi.. just so you know that turbo will not put you in the hp range you mentioned.

I had a t3/t4 57 trim with 460cc rx7 non turbo injectors and an afc and I got it tuned to 320hp at 17 psi(found out after I sold that turbo the internal wastegate was not closing and staying open 1/3 of the way so it seemed very laggy).

I never had a problem with my afc when I had it on my car and I don't think is as bad as some people make it sound but it should only be use for very mild mods like you are planing. Tuning is the key.

You don't need to spend 1k for an ecu you have an rb20det. It can be chipped very easily. I'm pretty sure carl h does chips too
