I've been thinking about getting this wheel/tire set on eBay mainly for street use. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...98647

I have a 91 240sx (4x100 or 4x114 ??, 40 offset) and I was just wondering if I would have any problem running with 205/40/17 tires. I know that my speedometer would be 3.122 mph off but is there anything else that I should know of if I go with these set of tires? Will the tires wear down faster than a 205/45/17, which supposedly is the perfect fit for my car. Also, according to the seller's fitment guide, the 205/40/17's should fit but aren't the right size.

Should I buy the eBay set or just get the rims then buy 205/45/17 tires at tirerack? My total for the eBay set would be $680 with shipping and free balancing. If I buy them separetely, then I'd be spending $405 for the wheels and another $362 for the tires plus balancing so my total would be somewhere around $810.

What do you guys think I should do?

I think you should read the FAQ, because it tells you the bolt pattern is 4x114.3 or 5x114.3 depending on the year(yours is 4x114.3) and will take you to many helpful links and info on tire sizes and other things...

but anyways, those wheels look a bit overdone(IE I see them everywhere) and are probably heavy, given their copy-cat style. But if you really want them, I would go with a 205-45-17, for two reasons:-more accurate speedo-slightly higher sidewall to lessen rim impact damage possibly.

also, I didnt see the offset of those wheels listed, I wouldnt buy them if the offset were greater than 40(stock offset).-chet

I did read the FAQ :) and the owner's manual. The FAQ didn't say anything about 4x100 but the manual says it's either a 4x100 or 4x114... So I didn't know which one it was.

The offset for the wheels can be found under the seller's fitment guide link. It's 40mm, which is the same as the stock wheels.

Since money is an issue, will I be okay running with 205/40/17 tires until they wear down? I can get a brand new set of ADR wheels for $330 but are ADR wheels heavy as well? I orignally wanted to get some white or silver ADR wheels until I found the rim/tire set on eBay. Here's the link to the seller in case anyone is interested (Bay Area only).
