Hello everyone :).

Does anyone have any info on where to buy a transmission dipstick for the 2019 Rogue SL? I tried my 2013 dipstick but it wouldn't all the way in. (I could tell there's a curvature not suitable to the old dipsticks). How is everyone checking theirs levels? I refuse to pay the $300 plus the dealership wants for a "flush", which doesn't even include dropping the pan and changing the filter. I think it is s*** Nissan won't include a dipstick anymore. Thanks!

You don't check the level, you just use the leveling plug when changing it to insure a proper level. If you insist on checking it, Nissan makes a "dipstick special tool" that you might be able to obtain from the dealer parts dept. Please understand that the most common cause of DIYers destroying CVT's is incorrectly reading sticks and overfilling the tranny. That's why they were eliminated, because even a half-pint overfull is a CVT-killer. So while you might do things right, there are millions of very stupid people out there who would cause expensive warranty CVT replacements because of basically-unprovable abuse. I think it's forgivable that Nissan would rather not pay for that.

:welcome:

The reason why there's no tranny dipstick on the 2nd gen Rogue's has already been covered in previous posts. Please use the SEARCH feature on this forum.

As for an aftermarket replacement, AFAIK there isn't one.

Can't you just get a white ( must be white to see fluid) Coat hanger , make the proper graduation mark - how , will be the next topic , and you can make your own fabricated tools ........... ? Give that the odd College try !!
Say , however you do it ,once ya get it right , make Coat hanger mark=cold, mark= "at temp" , and mark "hot" . NOW you can quick check CVT. You can fabricate many , like " production-line " and sell'em here and elsewhere to all the potential DIY FUTURE CVT-killer mechanics .

The gen1's all had dipsticks, the gen2's didn't.

If you’re not having issues and trust the fluid to be filled correctly then just do a spill and fill. Once that I was convinced mine was proper using my scan gauge I just dump 3.5 to 3.75 qts and put it back. I’ll drain it warm and let it cool right next to a new jug and fill the same ambient amount. Easy peasy. The leveling plug is easy as well but you’ll need a scanguage regardless of what you tune says.

Not sure if this might be remotely interesting -- but I was derping around online and just found this curious little TSB. So it seems there IS indeed a dipstick for CVT8 transmissions. Just get ready to light your wallet on fire though when you see how much this piece of steel wire costs.

That's because it's officially a dealer "special tool" and Nissan doesn't exactly advertise it. You really don't want to know how big a wallet you'd need for all the "required crap" in our bays and tool room.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious the fact the TSB mentions each dealer has been supplied ONE of these tools :rotfl
Out of curiosity though, I did a quick google of the part number and found suppliers offering them anywhere from $250 to almost $500. Definitely would deter any casual DIYers and maybe even independent home-based mechanics.

Wow, I think I may have paid maybe $30 when I bought the dipstick for my 2015 model. My dipstick looks exactly like the factory cap, except that it has a flat blade like an oil dipstick. Amazon

If it's aftermarket, then the main thing is to confirm that it reads correctly. Over-indication could be bad but under-indication could be disastrous. It doesn't take much over-filling to destroy a CVT.

Then there are probably a bunch of other folks here who would like the exact same one. If you can post a link to the Amazon ad and not the search, I'm sure it will be appreciated.
