Hi All,

Has anyone changed the rear brakes on a 2019 Rogue SV AWD rear brakes with electric hand brake? I've always changed my own brakes till now. Any suggestions with this motor attached?
I took the pads off and could not get the caliber to return. Saw some videos saying to rewind the motor by hand. All the videos I saw were for different types of vehicles not the Nissan Rogue of course.

Is there a procedure that you do to disengage the parking brake?

Any help appreciated. Would hate to bring to a mechanic.

Thanks

Don N

We do it with Consult3+ at the dealership, but most scanners that will detect ABS have work support for retracting e-parking brakes. They can be turned in manually but you need a special key set.

Hi Don

I have the same predicament with my wife's 2019 Rogue SL AWD but I haven't had a chance to physically inspect the EPB system yet.
The following search produced the best instructions so far.

"Nissan Qashqai with EPB rear brakes pads and discs replacement, NO DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT REQUIRED"

I'm certain that the Nissan Qashqai and the Rogue Electronic Parking Brake system are identical.

Good luck

Tony

Correct, but you do need a retractor-key to turn them back in manually. It's basically a disc with bumps in the right places and a crank handle to turn and compress it at the same time.

Just completed replacement of rear brake pads and rotors on 2019 Rogue equipped with Electric Parking Brake with help from the following: https://youtu.be/8sGEz5qFmos
I used a T30 Torx bit and a cordless screwdriver extension (with a weak or no magnet) to remove the EPB motor attached to the brake caliper.
Acquired tool to turn and compress the caliper piston into the brake caliper but it was not needed as the caliper piston can be compressed without rotating. A large "C" clamp would work as well. Though the piston must be rotated slightly to ensure one of the three slots line up with an indicator on the caliper housing ( mine had a paint marking from the factory part) to ensure the piston slot lines up with a pin on the inside brake pad in order to seat properly between the pad and the caliper piston.
Also: on my 2019 Rogue there is a bracket that holds the hydraulic line to the brake caliper that must be removed to accommodate the removal of the top caliper mounting bracket bolt.

Hope this helps other DIYers
