This AWD Rogue has a clicking and rumbling noise that starts above 50 KPH (30MPH) and gets louder the faster you go. There is only 50000 KMs (30000Miles) on it Took it to a local garage, put on a hoist, and run up to verify the noise coming from the driveshaft. The mechanic removed the driveshaft and ZERO NOISE. The new driveshaft installed is $1600, the dealer wants $1485. for drive shaft complete plus labor. The mechanic was able to find a used 4000-mile Rogue and used that driveshaft to replace the existing one. Still made the same noise at the same speed. Have ordered a new driveshaft, will take a week to get here.

Does anyone else on this Forum have a similar problem? Was it covered by warranty?

The drivetrain warranty is 5/60, so with an '18 you may be in on miles but out on months. The odds of a used shaft with 4K miles being bad are slim and none. I'd take another listen and see if maybe the noise is actually in the viscous coupling and not the shaft.

If a 4000 mile shaft made the same noise, it's not the shaft.
You will have wasted money on not only the 4000mi replacement,
but the new one you are getting.

The coupler is not engaged at 2WD mode. You only have
about 10% max coupling upon acceleration from a stop, to about
40MPH max. That max MPG and percentage varies depending on
how far into the gas pedal you are. SO, if you are getting the
noise at 30MPH, and are not in AWD Lock, then more than
likely it is in the differential end of the drive-line. The shaft
being connected is enough to exacerbate an issue that is
developing. That could be a bad bearing in the pinion gear,
to the coupler.

The shaft will put a drag on the coupler and pinion. No shaft, there is no drag
on those components. While it all still turns without the shaft, there is no drag.

You can test this too, by removing the front section of the shaft,
so all that is bolted in, is the rear piece with carrier bearing.
INDEX the front and rear piece with a paint line, so when you
put it back together, it's balanced.

Having just the rear piece in will have a small drag on the coupler
when it engages, and no drag on the transfer case. If you have the
noise with just the rear half of the shaft in, it's in the differential,
being the coupler. IF no noise, then it's either because the drag is too
light, or it was in the Xfer case.

Great suggestion. :dblthumb:

Also, one time, I had clicking from the front of a car I used to own, was a
2000 Dodge Avenger ES. When I would pull out from a stop, or come to a hard
stop,I would get a click from up front. They replaced the front left axle, it stopped.
This was under warranty at the time... Another car that I put 153,000 miles on, and
never replaced a wheel bearing. Everything after 2013, I am replacing them every 3-4
months....

There is a TSB on this for Nissan cars for axle clicks on acceleration,
and includes 2010–2019 Rogue (S35/T32).

I know what that is, and it's a cheap fix. Any play in the axle at the
splines will make that noise when it turns before the bearing, and makes
that noise as it rubs on the rear of the bearing. Or, the two surfaces are
stuck together with rust or corrosion, and when it breaks loose at initial
take off, it clicks. It's less than a millimeter of movement/slip, but enough
to make a click when it happens. Applying the lubrication keeps it from
making that noise...
