I have an Android cell phone. I understand that the newer Rogue comes with features in the satnav option to run apps from your phone through the head end unit. Does it do "screen mirroring" essentially operating the phone through the dash touch screen, or does it only support certain apps? if certain apps, does it support google maps? I like the ability to download maps on wifi and navigate without using mobile data.

You have to download the Android Auto app from the Play Store, use a data (not charge) USB cable to connect your phone to the vehicle and set up Android Auto.

Once that is done, you can interact with your phone through the center display via a custom Android Auto interface designed specifically for in car use to minimize distraction. Apps run on your phone using your phone's data plan but displayed and controlled via your vehicle's center display.

Yes. Waze works with Android Auto. If I recall correctly, you can select between Google Maps or Waze as long as you have it installed.

To answer my own question: Here is a list of Apps on google play that are purported to work with Androids Auto. Both Waze an Google maps are listed.
