I bought a used (11k miles) 2018 Q70 from an Infiniti dealer about a year ago. Ever since I've owned it, it seems like the transmission doesn't want to go back into 1st gear when stopping. This only happens when the transmission is cold - after driving for a few minutes it's fine. When I come to a stop and try to accelerate right away, it revs and slams into gear sometimes so severely that the wheels spin. If I sit at a stop for a few seconds, the car will kind of lurch twice while it goes back to first gear. After the lurches, it's fine. I've brought this up to the service guy at the dealership. He says he can't find any technical bulletins about this issue, so he wouldn't know where to start to fix the problem. I find it hard to believe that I'm fortunate enough to have the only Infiniti in the world with this issue. Any suggestions?

This is pretty normal. You must be mashing the gas for it to be chirpring your tires but this is normal for many of us where when we coast to a light and then try to go right away, it's still in 2nd. I bet if you drive a day just 100% in manual mode, you'll never see this issue.

Are you in Sport Mode or Normal? In Sport I get the same downshift feeling you describe. And the tires will certainly spin if you drop the hammer at a dead stop.

I’m in standard mode. Again, it behaves fine after the transmission warms up.

Maybe you're slightly low on fluid? So the service guy didn't have the actual techs do triage or leave the car overnight to see what it does when cold?

I would have the fluids changed out.

I use Amsoil, no affiliation, and it has worked like a champ.
There is no flush option for these cars, I had mine done at Nissan with my fluid that I purchased from a local Amsoil dealer. Did it to my M56xS and my G37xS and they both rob like a champ.

Good luck

Agree, check the fluids. When I got my M56 back from the timing chain recall, I had some of the same problems. The dealership changed fluids and re-flashed the ECM and the problem went away. Not sure which course of action fixed the problem but there are two options for you. Once that's done, I also recommend that you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes or so to reset the ECM / ECU back to factory specs. That will erase any bad behavior from the previous owner:) I hope you enjoy the car!
