2018 Nissan NV350 - Key Programming

Hi all,
I have a Nissan NV350 with a blank keyfob to programme as a spare - but I follow online guides to
1. Ensure all doors are closed, go into drivers side, close door and lock
2. Insert and fully remove key at least 6 times, hazards should flash

This is where I get stuck - hazards don't flash but doors unlock at this point - does anyone know about this? Or should I just head to a locksmith?

I'm pretty sure the DIY fob registration sequence doesn't work on '17-up models, it has to be done with a Consult or other capable scanner. I know it doesn't work on late model B17 Sentras with lollipop keys (same RKE setup with a different style key), and for NV's, the '16 FSM is the last one with any reference to the DIY procedure.
