My 2018 Rogue SL AWD navigation map view changes intermittently when I restart the car. Specifically, the magnification view zooms out either to the state in which I reside (Florida) or the entire continental US. I have searched the "Settings" menu and there appears to be no setting to retain the prior magnification view. I have tried the "Reset to Default Settings" soft key without success. I had the Nissan service manager try to correct the problem but again without success. He stated that the 2018 Navigation system is a new version for the Rogue, and this intermittent problem is a "glitch" in this new software and hopefully will be corrected. He also states that he searched the Nissan database and has found no similar complaints. (How many times have I heard that statement?)

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is anyone aware of a fix?

I've had a 2018 SV with navigation for about 7 months. I have not experienced this problem. The navigation in my Rogue works much better than the one I had in the 2016 Altima that I had before. I have updated the maps once and that went well. You might try updating the maps, it could help.

chunt5,
Thank you for your suggestion. I thought about updating the map software, but I believe that my 2018 Rogue has the newest map version. I guess I will have to wait for the 2019 map version to be released at the usual extremely expensive price. I am not quite sure if the situation that I described is a software or a programmable firmware problem. In the past, I have had Nissan and Infiniti navigation map updates that include not only more extensive coverage of uninhabited areas of the western hemisphere but also firmware updates on a second CD-ROM. The current Nissan/Infiniti vehicles no longer use the same data system, but I hope this annoying glitch will eventually be resolved.

My SV was built 9/17 and I was able to update my maps. On the 2018's the map updates are FREE, unlike previous years, and you can do it yourself.

After looking into the map updating system, you are correct in that the maps are updated by WIFI (automatically if there is a nearby signal), cellphone, or USB, although no one seems to know how to do the latter two ways. I currently have the latest map version (0149). I spoke with tech support at great length about the problem and she planned to discuss it with the engineering department. I still suspect the firmware has to be re-programmed.

I have experienced the same zoom out issue. I need to add though, my unit is total crazy. I've sent videos to the dealer about boot looping, factory resets while driving, etc... and Nissan has asked the dealer to obtain my radio to send to their lab to examine. So...hopefully the new one won't zoom out.

Funny, I had this happen twice since I've owned my new Rogue. Thought I was going crazy, but glad to know its not just me now. I'm going to chalk it up as another new bug with the system, but will mention it next time I have service.

I wouldn't worry about it much. In 3 years, they will stop offering map updates anyway (like they did with my 2014). :tisk:

So I think I figured out why this happens...or at least I'm able to reproduce the problem at will. What I have discovered is that if I have the head unit on MAP display OR Main Menu with a MAP 'plug in" when I turn my 2018 Rogue off, the map zoom is zoomed out. If, however, I change over to, say, AUDIO before I shut down the car this doesn't seem to happen ....caveat...if I wait about 30 seconds after powering car on before changing to maps view. What I'm guessing happens is that until your unit can get a GPS LOCK it has no idea where you are and zooms out to the appropriate level, which at power on in my case was a globe view. Also, if I only waited a couple of seconds after start up, it would be zoomed in on, say the eastern US. So, again, I'm thinking at power one your set to zoom level 5...but your GPS isn't fully locked so your GPS "accuracy" is nowhere near that level so it zooms out to the "accuracy" that it had at startup. Since I have been changing the view over to the AUDIO source before turning off the car, I no longer have the zoomed out issue. Anyway...hope this helps.
