Looking at a 2018 and there are 4 closed recalls and 1 open for HVAC at low temps. One recall addressed a battery overheating issue with level 3 charging which was resolved by a software fix. Does this sound reasonable? The issue is with the chemistry of the battery it sounds to me, how can software fix this? Have there been any fires or heat related issues with this battery? I think it is late 2018 and 2019 and 2020 cars.

I don't think they had a CHAdeMO port prior to '18, but consider that the HV battery isn't one battery, it's a glom of series-linked cells producing a few volts each that add up to 400V. The charge module isn't just pumping juice into the positive end like a 12V battery charger. The charging software is quite sophisticated and any errors or glitches in it could certainly cause a hot battery, especially at CHAdeMO charge rates.
