Hello, I hope someone can help here!
I have a 2018 Nissan Armada SL that has the all to frequent led backlighting issues on the speedometer cluster and I took it out to send it off for repair.
I sorta assumed that the vehicle would still be drivable with no cluster, but I realized there was a chance it may not due to the way they make some cars these days.
I figured it would be obvious after I removed the cluster , it would start or not, but I was wrong.
After I pulled the cluster, I pressed the start button, and voila - it started right up. Slight hiccup, it did not shut off right away with another press, but I found it did shut down when you press and hold the start button.
Bigger hiccup, which I did not find until about 4 miles away when it died in the middle of a busy intersection and I had to have it towed home. Apparently, it had been running on battery only, as near as I can figure the computer had shut down using the alternator to charge the system, or never allowed it to anyway.
My question- in another thread I saw others talking about clipping a wire to solve some other charging issue, and do we think there is any chance this would resolve this issue and allow me to drive the car until I get the cluster back, or do I just need to rent a car?
