2017 Rogue. Play/Pause with iPod?

I just bought a 2017 Rogue (with Navigation). When I connect an iPod via the center console USB port, I am able to navigate categories and playlists just fine. I am also able to select songs and they play just fine and I'm able to go to next/previous song or FF/Rew within the current song using the buttons on the radio and steering wheel. However, when a song is playing, there appears to be no way (other than directly from the iPod) to pause/play the current song. I feel like I must be missing something, because it seems crazy that they'd give all this functionality without having to touch the iPod, but not provide something as basic as a pause/play button(s). I've used Bluetooth streaming from my connected phone and there are both a pause and play button there. Thoughts?

Unfortunately there is no other way to pause or play. Have you looked in the manual to see if it's buried somewhere in there. I have the same issue in my 2015 SL AWD.

Yeah, I've been through the manual. The section related to iPod control is just a couple of pages. It seems like such an odd omission in functionality, but I guess that's just the way it is. Thanks for the response.
