Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out with a few ideas. As per subject line, cranks strong but won't fire. Pulled and grounded spark plug (first to engine, then to battery - does the coil pack need to be grounded too at the screw hole?), and not firing at all. Charged battery overnight to see if low battery was the problem. Doesn't seem to be it. Battery manufactured in november 2023.

Background: ran fine prior to pulling engine and trans to replace trans and left (front) head gasket. Thought i double checked every connection before reinstalling but thinking i must have missed a sensor or something that gives signal to the ecu to allow ignition.

Not sure what to look for as far as sensors that will cause that other than cam or crank. Visually looked and don't see anything disconnected. No codes. Thought timing chain might be out but i put it on exactly as marked coming off.

Seems to be getting fuel fine.

Any possible solutions or list of things to check?

Did you check for power at the coil connectors? White should be 12V, Black is ground, and you should be able to light up a test lamp across them with the key on. If not, check from White to a chassis ground, if that lights then your main ground has an issue. If it doesn't, check 15A fuse #44 in the IPDM. It's pretty common to pop fuses during engine work, so my bet would be the fuse.

Thanks, I checked that fuse and had 12v but I'll test again with the test bulb. I just checked with a meter so no way to tell if it can draw current. I'll give it a shot. Ordered a crank sensor in case i pinchedcsomehow getting the trans on. Unlikely as it looks fine but what the heck.
