Yep, you read that right.

For 2017, Infiniti will have a FWD/AWD hatchback powered by a Mercedes-built 2.0T with 208hp/258tq and you can pair it with either a Mercedes-built 7 speed dual clutch or a Nissan-built 6 Speed Manual transmission.

I am left with hope. And slight fear of buyers' remorse in that a 6MT will end up available in the Q50S for the mid-cycle refresh that's coming for 2016 or 2017.

It really doesn't excite me. Looks boring to drive. The lines make it look more like a cross-over. Engine looks like it sits almost entirely in front of the front strut towers which isn't great for weight distribution.

My world has just been turned inside out. I don't know what to believe anymore.

On the other hand: whoopty s***, yet another wrong wheel drive spawn of Mercedes' stupid cheapass tiny A class. Just what the world never ever asked for. Wasn't MB a top tier luxury brand just a few years ago? What the hell happened?

It's hard to tell proportions from the photos for some reason, but it looks bloated. Like a mini-crossover, and not a hatch. And you're right about where the engine sits. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly far in front of the strut towers it sets. Nissan misses the mark again. Imagine that.

Ah... the way I see it is that I won't blame Nissan entirely on the platform layout - it's not theirs. It's a Mercedes A Class, which is actually selling extremely well. If Infiniti sells the crap out of this, it could be the shot in the arm that the brand needs to really push the other nameplates like the Q50 and upcoming Q60.

Right now, this is the only Infiniti available with a 6MT besides the soon-to-be-retired Q60/G37 Coupe. I'm just happy they aren't straying from manual transmissions altogether while other brands don't offer them at all (Lexus, soon to be BMW). This, to me, is a good move.

I can see your points, and the offering of a 6MT in this market is a rarity and greatly welcomed, but for me, the pro's don't outweigh the cons.
